How to create your own bot from scratch
Greetings!
– v1.2 (added some more info)
Someone inspired by
dADroid-bot
recently asked me to help them in the right direction of creating their own bot, and I wanted to write a complete guide on how a bot is made. Since this seemed to be something that other people might want to read in the future, I decided to write and share a comprehensive guide, listing all the required tools and skills to
make a new bot from scratch
without any past experience.
Now, I should mention that there are in fact third-party tools and services that can be used to create and/or replace any part of this guide, but considering that those services do or use more or less the same things explained here, I'd recommend to be at least familiar with the concepts explained here, and the basics of what is happening behind the scenes to run a bot.
I'd like to point out a few essential tools & skillsets required to start a new project like this, and I hope you'll make an amazin

Tricks to save you time on DeviantArt
Community Week
Hey guys,
This is just a very quick tutorial of sorts on some quick "shortcuts" or other types of "tricks" for some things on DeviantArt you might not know about. They're things that saved me a lot of time once I discovered them, so I figured I may as well share them for those who might find them useful.
Moving, Copying or Removing Favorites or Gallery items in mass or all at once
There's a somewhat glitchy but still useful way for you to select multiple of your gallery items or favorites in order to then either move/copy them to other folders or simply remove them altogether.
1.
First go to your Favourites or Gallery page. They both operate exactly the same with regards to this "trick" so for the sake of this tutorial, I'll only be showing the Favourites folder as an example. Once you're on the page, click the
"Edit Page"
button.
2.
Note that from this page you could also drag and drop thumbna

WHY YOUR MENTIONS DON'T WORK
Hello everyone
This journal contains very important information for all of us so I ask you to please share it so other people can see it and know this isn't a bug.
Over the last month I've had trouble in sending mentions and possibly receiving them as well. I've posted two journals, one on August 5th and one on August 25th in which I tagged and featured people, but I was surprised and confused when people told me they didn't receive my mentions. WHY, I asked myself. I posted a comment on both the journals in which I copy-pasted all the people I tagged originally, but they didn't get the notification this time either. WHY, I asked myself again.
Right after this I got around and a

Smart Searching Using #Tags
Community Week
Search with Tags:
Finding Art You WANT To Find!
Sit back and hold on tight. It's time to learn something useful.
What does it mean to "tag" my artwork?
If you've submitted a deviation to your gallery, you have likely noticed the small box below the description that allows you to add tags to your artwork. You know...
tags
. The hashtag, number sign, pound sign, or even the original term "octothorpe". Using tags on DeviantArt means you are giving your deviation keywords that people can use to search for your art or art similar to yours. Tags are represented by the "hashtag" symbol and the keyword. If someone submits an oil painting of a puppy, they may include the tags:
#puppy #painting #oil #canvas #traditional #art
.
tl;dr, tags are a good way to help your art be searchable and seen. Use them. We'll refer back to the oil painting of a puppy later in the tutorial.

5 Tips to Maintaining and Gaining Watchers
For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.
1. When uploading deviations, do
not
bombard your watchers. If you upload only one or two a day, or even one or two a week, you will get more comments as well as more attention. People will have more time to comment and more time in general, whereas if you upload all in one go, they will most likely delete and just comment on a few.
2. Spend time on your artwork. Once youve finished a piece, it doesnt stop there. Youve got to consider the title, which impacts the piece significantly and the artists comment. Is art ever finished? Ask yourself that q

New feature to find more llama traders!
New feature as of 3/24/2017!
I am now featuring people automatically from these lists:
- Anyone who comments mentioning llama trading or returning on the
llamalist
profile
- Anyone who comments on the
llama-list
profile
I now have a bot that gives me a list of usernames in my messages. It also removes duplicates for me, but it only checks each separate list. It does not remove duplicates from the journal as a whole. I've chosen this as a way to prevent confusion for members. The journals will still give you confirmation of all the lists you joined within the past week.
dADroid-bot
has teamed up with
llama-list
!
That means you can comment list, dADroid List, or /list on the main page.
In return
dADroid-bot
will give you the active traders featured on
Give-LlamaGetA-Llama
,
GiveALlamaGetALlama
, and the highlighted comments of traders on
llamalist
.
If you comment 'stat', the bot will monitor your precise llama send/receive amount, ratio, and even the

Simple Sta.sh Tutorial
What is Sta.sh?
Sta.sh
is a new system for submitting art to dA. You can find the link in your 'submit' menu.
Why use it?
Main advantages are that you can submit deviations faster, from more places (currently with apps for
android
,
iPhoto
,
mac
,
iOS
, etc., as well as from
email and FTP
) and you can keep them private if you want. You can then share it only with those people you want - for example to ask their opinion before submitting it to your gallery.
How to submit?
Submitting basically happens in two parts. Upload the file Image- and oth
